Créajeune Cross-Border Youth Film Competition Kicks Off its 18th Edition in 2025

The Créajeune cross-border youth film competition, a renowned annual event promoting creativity and collaboration among young filmmakers from border regions, is set to commence its 18th edition in 2025. This year, the competition invites young talents from the Greater Region to engage in film-making that reflects cultural exchange and shared experiences across borders.

Organised by a cross-border network consisting of Saarland Film Office e.V., Ligue de l'Enseignement/FOL Moselle, Rencontres Documentaires de l'IRTS de Lorraine, EuRegio SaarLorLux, and the Regionalverband Saarbrücken, the Créajeune competition is open to young filmmakers from Saarland, Rhineland-Palatinate, Lorraine, Luxembourg, and Wallonia.

The competition is a platform for showcasing and awarding the best entries at festivals in Saarbrücken, Metz, and Luxembourg. Eligible films should be up to 20 minutes long and produced in 2024 or 2025. Children up to 12 years old, youth aged 13 to 17, young adults aged 18 to 29, and music video creators up to 29 years old can participate. The entries can be in the categories of narrative, documentary, animation, experimental, or music video.

The event is supported by numerous partners, including the Saarland Ministry of Education and Culture, the Saarland State Chancellery, Arbeit und Kultur Saarland gGmbH, the Grand Est Region, Passeurs d'Images, the City of Metz, the Quattropole city network, the Saarland Central Agency for Political Education, and other sponsors.

The deadline for film submissions is November 1, 2025. For the exact eligibility criteria and participating regions for the 2025 edition, it is best to consult the official Créajeune competition announcements or their organizing body related to youth and cultural cooperation in border regions.
