The Standard Singapore Opens: A Fresh Stay Experience
The Standard Singapore, a vibrant new addition to the city's hospitality scene, has opened its doors. Nestled between the Shangri-La hotel and residences on Orange Grove Road, the property offers stylish accommodation and dining options, starting from S$272 per night.
Designed by Verena Haller and DP Architects, with interiors by Ministry of Design's Colin Seah, the 143-room hotel boasts a unique aesthetic. Rooms range from 23 sq m studios to 43 sq m suites, featuring timber-ribbed canopies and floor-to-ceiling windows. The youthful service team is eager to please, despite occasional moments of hesitation.
The social hub of the hotel is a 40m lap pool, as there are no spa or gym facilities. Dining options include Café Standard for American-style food and Kaya for modern Japanese plates. The reception showcases a striking installation by artist Eric Tobua, while terraced gardens provide a serene retreat.
The Standard Singapore, following properties in Bangkok and Melbourne, caters to young creatives and social aspirants who appreciate quirky design and intimate spaces. With rates starting from S$272, it offers a fresh and exciting stay experience in the heart of Singapore.
