The Director of The Greatest Showman Commits to Disney's Real-Life Tangled Production
"Tangled" has joined the lineup of live-action Disney Princess adaptations, following "Snow White" and the recent "The Little Mermaid". Although a release date hasn't been set just yet, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Gracey (The Greatest Showman) will direct the film.
The report revealed that Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, known for her work on Sony's upcoming I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel reboot, has written the latest draft of the script for Disney's live-action "Tangled", based on its 2010 animated success.
No casting announcements have been made for Gracey's "Tangled". However, whispers circulated earlier this year suggesting that standout actress from "Mean Girls: The Musical", Avantika, might take the lead role as Rapunzel. This rumor sparked some regrettable racial slurs against the Indian American actress—despite her well-received portrayal of Karen Shetty in the musical adaptation of the Lindsay Lohan 2004 teen movie (have a look at her "Sexy" performance below). As of now, Flynn Rider's role has not been filled, but we're looking forward to Zachary Levi bidding farewell to his days as Disney's prince.
