Swedish Teens in Germany for EU Exchange Programme
A group of 15 Swedish students and two teachers from Polhemskolan in Lund are currently in Greifswald, Germany, for a week-long exchange program organized by the European Union's Erasmus+ initiative. The students were officially welcomed at the town hall today, marking the continuation of a long-standing partnership between their school and the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Gymnasium in Greifswald, which began in 2001.
The exchange program offers students the opportunity to learn about each other's cultures and languages. Some Swedish students are learning German, while their German counterparts are honing their Swedish skills. Today, the visitors cycled together to Wieck and the Eldena monastery ruins. Tomorrow, they will embark on a hike through the Söderåsen nature reserve and visit Malmö. Later in the week, they plan to take a train ride to Berlin and spend a day together on Usedom Island. The Swedish students are also living with host families to fully immerse themselves in the local culture and daily life.
The exchange program between Polhemskolan and Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Gymnasium is a testament to the enduring power of cultural exchange and friendship. By fostering these connections, the students are not only learning new languages and gaining new experiences but also building bridges between their two nations.
