The Pittsburgh Steelers have been making some significant moves in their roster, with several key changes announced in recent days.

In a surprising turn of events, the Steelers have decided to part ways with receiver Robert Woods, who joined the team earlier this year. Woods, who had been an effective part of C.J. Stroud's pass-catching rotation with the Houston Texans, could potentially reunite with the Steelers following his release.

Woods' departure leaves a noticeable gap in the Steelers' receiving corps. However, the team is expected to rely heavily on the duo of Pat Freiermuth and Jonnu Smith in the passing game. These two tight ends are anticipated to play a pivotal role in the Steelers' offensive strategy.

The Steelers have also released a few other players, including former draft picks Mark Robinson and DeMarvin Leal, and punter Cameron Johnston. The team's decision to let go of these players indicates a shift in their roster composition as they prepare for the upcoming season.

To fill some of these vacancies, the Steelers have added a few new faces. Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf, two high-profile players, have joined the team's roster. Kaleb Johnson and Calvin Austin III, along with Roman Wilson, Scotty Miller, Brandon Johnson, and Ben Skowronek, have also been signed to bolster the team's ranks.

Robert Woods' career peaked with the Los Angeles Rams, where he played from 2017 to 2021. He reached new heights in the 2018 season, recording a career-high 1,219 receiving yards. Despite battling retirement rumors all offseason, Woods compiled 629 receiving yards in the last two seasons with the Houston Texans.

The Steelers have not tasted postseason success since their victory in Super Bowl XLIII, back in 2009. Since then, they have struggled in the playoffs, with a record of 6-10. This five-game postseason losing streak is a stark contrast to their early glory days.

As the NFL season approaches, the Steelers will be eager to turn their fortunes around and return to their former glory. The additions of players like Aaron Rodgers and DK Metcalf, along with the returning talents of Pat Freiermuth and Jonnu Smith, could be the catalyst for this revival.
