Paris sets stage for Locke's grandest theatrical aparthotel debut
Le Jardin de Verre by Locke: A Unique Blend of Parisian Charm and Modern Design
Nestled in the heart of Paris' historic Latin Quarter, on Rue de Lacepède, lies a unique hotel that seamlessly blends classic Parisian style with industrial and natural influences - Le Jardin de Verre by Locke.
This remarkable establishment is housed in a building that was once a French Baroque mansion and a 19th-century factory, creating a harmonious fusion of classic style and modern living. The interiors, designed in-house by Edyn, Locke’s parent company, strike a balance between Parisian classicism and an industrial undercurrent.
The rooms at Le Jardin de Verre present a layered, light-filled aesthetic. For instance, the Terrace Suite offers an outdoor space, full kitchen, and separate bedroom, combining comfort and style in a spacious setting uncommon in Paris. Signature suites like Begonia and Roseraie, designed by Fettle, exhibit bespoke features such as custom chandeliers, skylights, and freestanding baths overlooking courtyards, evoking refined Parisian apartments and theatrical expressions ideal for entertaining.
The property boasts a vast glass atrium with cascading plants, terracotta tiled floors, and wicker furniture to enhance light and nature indoors. The inviting courtyard seating offers a peaceful escape from the bustling city.
Le Jardin de Verre's food and beverage offerings include a Bibie brasserie, cocktail bar, and café. The Bibie brasserie offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a menu created by chef Loïc Julliand featuring French favorites and Mediterranean influences. Popular dishes include the Vitello Tonnato with Cipriani sauce, Beignets de Courgettes, and the Poulet Fermier. The in-house cellar of 200 wines is available for guests to enjoy with their meals.
The hotel's interiors include a theatrical atrium restaurant, a compact co-working area, and layered spaces that flow across volumes of varying scale. Le Jardin de Verre collaborates with local businesses, such as Coutume for speciality coffee and Klin d'oeil for artisanal goods, to enrich the guest experience.
Fettle, the design studio behind Le Jardin de Verre, intentionally left some of the features from the original building exposed, adding a touch of history to the modern design. Bespoke features include textured rugs by Studio Knot and a mural behind reception created by a local artist.
While specific artist collaborations at Le Jardin de Verre have not been detailed, Locke's commitment to integrating local and meaningful art is evident, as seen in their collaborations with creative talents and wellbeing-focused partners that align with their ethos, creating a uniquely layered and light-filled environment in the Latin Quarter.
The hotel's unique blend of Parisian charm and modern design extends to its lifestyle offerings, including a home-and-garden aesthetic in the inviting courtyard seating and the Terrace Suite's spacious outdoor space with a full kitchen. Additionally, travelers can immerse themselves in the Parisian art scene with Locke's collaboration with local artists and creative talents throughout the property, creating a destination that transcends just a hotel stay.
