Luxury Vehicles of Dubai Police, Exclusively for Travelers: Dubai's Elite Police Patrol Cars - Luxury Vehicles Reserved for Tourists: Dubai's Police Force Showcases elite Supercars
Vroom, Vroom, Dubai's Road Kings!
Written by Stefan Grundhoff
It's been over two decades since the Dubai Police put the pedal to the metal with a fleet of high-performance supercars. Away from the hustle of nabbing criminals or scolding traffic violators, these officers strut about as ambassadors of their own nation, leaving tourist attractions grinning ear to ear. More recently, electric engine rumblings have joined the symphony of horsepower. Both cops and tourists are revved up - as long as the engine power doesn't let 'em down.
Dubai Hotspots Get Served by Supercar Pimp-Mobiles
The desert sun sinking low, and the mercury dipping below 40 degrees ─ Ali Yousif is on patrol today at "The Frame," one of Dubai's most impressive attractions. The 39-year-old officer, dressed to kill in his ceremonial uniform, has rolled in with a few comrades from HQ to show off their latest motorsport babes.
Fighting super villains may be the speciality of the UAE-SWAT squad, but for Ali Yousif, it's about something much sweeter. He's here stealthily in his green uniform with his brand-new Lotus Emeya, a 918PS electric limo that's part of the supercar fleet Dubai Police has been playfully tearing up the asphalt with for years.
Supercar Fleet: A Timeless Classic Since 2001
The fleet has pulled into the scene in 2001, and since then has housed over 18 automotive treasures. "These babies make sure safety and order reign at popular tourist hotspots," Ali Yousif recollects, grinning like the Joker from Gotham. "With these rides, we're like the Batman of Dubai."
The list of luxury cars under Dubai Police's care is more eye-popping than a Lamborghini's interior: Ferrari Gran Lusso, Lamborghini Urus, Porsche Panamera, Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Bentley Continental, BMW 8er Coupé, or Mercedes AMG GT.
While Ali gently navigates his electric power Lotus through the city, his colleagues are on duty today with other luxury rides such as the Rolls-Royce Cullinan Mansory, Bentley Continental GT, Audi R8, and a Tesla Cybertruck, working two shifts.
Automakers Hand Over the Keys to the Kingdom
The world's auto manufacturers are all too eager to see their shiny toys in Dubai Police's hands. "We're the face of the country," Ali explains, "an endless parade of posh cars at events and attractions. Car chases only happen with our SWAT team. We're just here to look pretty and provide a thrill for tourists."
Discussions about who gets to drive which supercar? Never. Duty rosters assign the multi-million dollar vehicles just like they handle regular patrol cars such as BMW 5er, Audi A6, or Nissan Patrol. But don't get the wrong idea, a Tesla or two, like the Cybertruck, have been causing a ruckus on patrol duty for quite a while now.
Lambo with a Built-in Arsenal
Lamborghini has been handing over spectacular patrol vehicles to Dubai Police for years, including their latest 666-horsepower Urus Performante. This fast and furious SUV can reach speeds up to 306 km/h, ensuring the force can hightail it to emergency situations in a jiffy. According to General Ahmed Mohammed bin Thani, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, these supercars are "equipped with safety and order in mind, ensuring residents and tourists can enjoy the many wonders Dubai has to offer."
These vehicles come kitted out with all the essentials, including white-green paintwork, blue LED lights, weapons vaults, first aid kits, and defibrillators, ready for action at a moment's notice. In the event of emergencies, these rides are capable of making a quick dash to one of Dubai's numerous hospitals.
Officers are regularly trained on various vehicles, as the Supercar Police service is just one of the many roles within the local force. Officers shuffle between departments and units, keeping things fresh and exciting. Ali Yousif considers himself lucky to be part of the Supercar unit, alongside his comrades.
