Jeremy Allen White from The Bear is set to embrace a surprising Star Wars role.

"Yo, chef?" More like "Yep," to the chief director of Chef. That's apparently what The Bear star Jeremy Allen White recently said, as he's joined the cast of the next Star Wars flick, known as The Mandalorian and Grogu. It's co-written and directed by Jon Favreau, who also directed the film Chef.

White is voicing Rotta the Hutt, the offspring of Jabba the Hutt. Rotta first made an appearance in the Clone Wars movie and then had a minor role in a few tales during the following Dave Filoni-led TV show. He interfaced with notables like Asajj Ventress, Anakin Skywalker, and Ahsoka Tano. The whereabouts of this tiny Hutt since Luke Skywalker and his crew eliminated his dad and everyone on his boat are yet to be exposed. Reporter Jeff Sneider disclosed this information on the Kristin Harloff Show and io9 has independently verified it. Lucasfilm stayed mum on the matter.

The Mandalorian and Grogu completed filming and is set to hit theaters in May 2026. Originally, another Star Wars film was scheduled for release in December of the same year, but that's been taken off the calendar now.

Another Star Wars movie is still on the schedule for December 2027, and according to Sneider, that might not be the James Mangold Dawn of the Jedi film, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s Rey movie, Dave Filoni’s “Mandoverse” movie, or any Taika Waititi or Simon Kinberg project. Crazy, right?

As for White, he's currently filming his role as Bruce Springsteen in a Fox/Disney film titled Deliver Me From Nowhere, set to drop next year. We might hear more about The Mandalorian and Grogu in April when Star Wars Celebration returns, this time in Japan.
