The picturesque Canavese region, nestled in the Piedmont region of Italy, is embarking on an exciting journey towards a more sustainable and socially responsible future. This transformation is being spearheaded by the Canavese2030 Foundation, which has presented a comprehensive report on the region's development.

The Canavese sustainable development model, shaped by the Olivetti experience, is a testament to the region's forward-thinking approach. It is a model that places a strong emphasis on social issues, ensuring that the growth and development of the region are inclusive and equitable.

Work on various themes, such as sport and tourism, has been instrumental in driving this development. These sectors are not just economic drivers but are also playing a crucial role in shaping the identity of the region and attracting visitors who value sustainability and cultural preservation.

Next year, the Foundation plans to launch a similar initiative for associations of the territory, further expanding the scope of community involvement. Fabrizio Gea, president of the Canavese2030 Foundation, has introduced the "New Community" model of social innovation, which encourages co-design of the territory, involving schools, associations, and citizens.

The progress report, which features six infrastructure projects and 179 projects in the field, provides a glimpse into the strides made in the region's development. The report also includes 16 macro-proposals, outlining the path forward for the Canavese.

The Foundation also organises an annual Call for Ideas with schools, with last year's winner being the Sentiero delle Pietre bianche project. This initiative encourages innovation and creativity among the region's youth, fostering a sense of ownership and engagement.

The "New Community" model allows for a shared and conscious development model, where the region's unique assets, such as UNESCO sites, the industrial footprint of the hot stamping district in the Alto Canavese, the Olivetti heritage, and the Gran Paradiso Park, are preserved and enhanced.

The challenge for the Canavese is to strike a balance between preserving its rich heritage and attracting tourists. While there are no specific details about tourism benchmarks or plans to increase tourist flow in Canavese, the region aims to increase its tourist presence to at least 50% of the Langhe's.

As the Canavese continues to evolve, it is clear that sustainable development and community engagement will remain at the heart of its progress. A new co-design initiative for citizens is planned between 2026 and 2027, ensuring that the region's growth is guided by the voices of its people.

The Red Guide to the Good Life, part of the work underway, is a tool that interprets the spirit of the ongoing project, focusing on Eat, Drink, Sleep, Shop, Artisans, Products. This guide promises to offer a unique and authentic Canavese experience, making it an attractive destination for travellers seeking a sustainable and culturally rich vacation.

As the Canavese moves forward, it serves as an inspiring example of a region committed to sustainable development and community engagement. Its journey is a testament to the power of collaboration and the shared vision of a more sustainable future.

In the Canavese region's journey towards a sustainable future, the travel sector plays a significant role in shaping the identity of the region. The Red Guide to the Good Life, a tool focusing on Eat, Drink, Sleep, Shop, Artisans, and Products, offers a unique and authentic Canavese experience for travelers who value sustainability.

The proposed co-design initiative for citizens between 2026 and 2027 underscores the region's commitment to ensuring that home-and-garden and lifestyle development aligns with the community's voices and preferences. This holistic approach to development highlights the Canavese's work in fostering a sustainable and culturally rich lifestyle within their community.
