Historic 'Zille in Marienthal' Saved for 2021 Season

The historic 'Zille in Marienthal' has received a financial boost for its operation in 2021, ensuring its continued availability from May to September. This iconic boat service, connecting the Burgensteig between Marienthal and Burg Stockenfels, plays a central role in regional leisure activities.

The Association for Leisure Activities in the Regensburg Area e.V. has contributed 4,000 euros towards the Zille's operation. This association regularly supports projects that expand leisure opportunities and strengthen the region sustainably. The goal is to provide residents and visitors with an attractive offer for relaxation.

The Zille, with its 125-year history, is an impressive experience for both locals and tourists. It facilitates access to hiking trails and serves as a major attraction in the region. District Administrator Tanja Schweiger praises the Zille, stating, 'Our region thrives on a high quality of life and a diverse range of leisure activities. The Zille is a wonderful example of this.' Mayor Gertrud Maltz-Schwarzfischer also emphasizes the unique experience of a Zille ride, expressing support for the boat service's continued operation.

Thanks to the Association's donation, the popular Zille crossing on the Regen remains and can be further developed. This ensures that the historic boat service continues to enhance the quality of life in the region, providing an attractive leisure option for both residents and visitors.
