Experience History at Franconian Open-Air Museum's Autumn Festival on Oct 3
The Franconian Open-Air Museum Fladungen hosts its annual 'Autumn Festival' on October 3rd, German Unity Day. From 10 am to 5 pm, visitors can enjoy a day filled with history, tradition, and fun activities.
The festival showcases a range of historic machinery. An eight-ton steam tractor from 1896 powers the museum's threshing machine, while a small steam engine from 1924 drives a lathe. A highlight is the Lanz Bulldog HL 12 tractor from 1928, part of the museum's collection.
Traditional craftsmanship is demonstrated at the smithy. Hans Müller, a skilled blacksmith from Waldberg, shares his knowledge and techniques. Children can also participate in hands-on activities like picking potatoes and helping with the spindle press.
The event offers culinary delights, including historical cooking and hearty local specialties. Visitors can also sample local beverages.
Musical entertainment is provided by the 'Rucksack Musician' Michael Manger, who adds a lively atmosphere to the festival. Lessons from before 1900 are presented in the village school from Krausenbach, giving visitors a glimpse into the past.
