Enjoying meals and splitting costs: IKEA reduces restaurant prices by half during summer weekends

In a bid to encourage customers to enjoy Swedish cuisine at reduced prices, IKEA has announced a new promotion in Spain and Germany. The initiative, named 'Freutage', offers a 50% discount on main meals at IKEA restaurants on Fridays.

In Spain, the promotion will be valid on Fridays from June 6 to July 25, 2025, excluding the IKEA Sabadell Restaurant on June 6, 13, and 20. Participating locations include IKEA stores with restaurant services in mainland Spain, with the exception of the Canary Islands, Balearic Islands, IKEA Glòries, IKEA Santander, and IKEA Diagonal. Eligible dishes range from vegetable lasagne and pasta dishes to Swedish meatballs, salmon fillet, ham hock, chicken escalope, and fish & chips. To avail the offer, customers must show their IKEA Family card or provide their membership number at checkout.

IKEA's primary goal is to offer its products at the best possible price, especially in times of economic uncertainty and high living costs. This campaign is another step towards IKEA's vision of creating a better everyday life for many people.

Meanwhile, in Germany, IKEA is offering a similar promotion every Friday and Saturday from June 27 to August 30. The Ingka Group, the largest furniture retailer operating in 31 countries, is also halving prices for warm main dishes in many countries to bring joy and shared enjoyment to as many people as possible.

IKEA Germany currently operates 54 stores and 12 IKEA Planning Studios, and has been present in the country since 1974. The company employs approximately 20,308 people in Germany. Rebekka Schuh, the press contact for IKEA Germany's Corporate Communications, can be reached at [email protected] for further information.

All restaurant customers will receive a 5 Euro voucher for subsequent IKEA shopping. However, the voucher from IKEA's campaign is only valid on the day of issue for home accessories from a purchase value of 25 EUR, and it is exclusive to items in stock at the IKEA store. Orders at the IKEA store are excluded from the voucher's validity.

In the fiscal year 2022, a total of 680 million people visited IKEA stores, and 3.8 billion people sought information on IKEA's website. IKEA aims to ease the burden of inflation, high rents, and rising living costs with its 'Freutage' campaign. For instance, a family meal for four persons is available from 11.90 Euro instead of 23.80 Euro, and a meal for two persons, including meatballs or plant balls, costs 6.45 Euro instead of the regular 12.90 Euro.

The campaign is specifically designed to reward IKEA Family members and to boost restaurants’ footfall on Fridays in participating Spanish and German IKEA stores. However, it's important to note that the voucher is not combinable with other vouchers or coupons, and cash redemption is not possible.
