Delight in the announced addition to the 'Ke Huy Quan Demonstrates Incredible Skills' Series
Around four decades past due, Ke Huy Quan is transforming into a full-fledged action hero. Following his Oscar win for his thrilling comeback role in "Everything Everywhere All At Once", Quan secured the leading part in "Universal's 2025 action film Love Hurts" and is now attached to a Lionsgate action film titled "Fairytale in New York". It appears the Ke Huy Quan Action Suite is just commencing.
"Fairytale in New York" is set "on Christmas Eve in New York City", where an ordinary cab driver decides to wrap up his work for the day and reunite with his estranged son for the festivities. However, a confrontation with a gang of crooks leads him on a relentless mission to recover his son's prized Christmas present. Perhaps a blend of "Jingle All the Way", "John Wick", and "A Christmas Story". We're intrigued.
Directed by Jalmari Helander, who recently released the remarkable action film "Sisu", the Lionsgate chief, Adam Fogelson, stated in a press release, "As soon as we watched Sisu, we realized Jalmari was a filmmaker we wanted to work with again_. "Fairytale in New York" is a thrilling, action-packed adventure film with a heartwarming family story. And every so often, an actor reaches their prime-Ke Huy Quan is currently enjoying that moment and his extensive knowledge of crafting action, both in front and behind the camera, as well as his likability, make him the ideal actor for this project." Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani (Black Adam) penned the screenplay.
Though "Fairytale in New York" does not seem to be a fairy tale, the past couple of years for Ke Huy Quan have been akin to one. After achieving instant fame in the 1980s as a result of his performances in "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" and "The Goonies", the actor struggled to stay in the spotlight. He remained active in the industry, working as a stunt coordinator and more, before eventually bagging a major role in that Oscar-winning film.
Subsequently, he made his way into the MCU with "Loki" and in 2025, he will appear as an unassuming action hero in "Love Hurts", set to release in February, as well as a role in the Russo Brothers' sci-fi Netflix movie, "The Electric State".
Unfortunately, there's no word on a release date for "Fairytale in New York", but it would be captivating if it graced theaters for the 2025 holiday season.
