Continental Unveils vECU Creator for Virtual Vehicle Software Development

Continental has introduced the vECU Creator, a tool that combines high-performance computers and software for developing electronic control units in virtual environments. This innovation, part of the Continental Automotive Edge framework, is set to revolutionize software-defined vehicle development. Additionally, GEM Go, a free mapping app, has launched to help low-speed car drivers navigate safely and legally.

The vECU Creator brings together Continental's advanced hardware and Elektrobit's proven software for Classic and Adaptive AUTOSAR. It enables developers to configure and run virtual electronic control units in their specific development environments, even for hardware that doesn't yet exist. This allows for faster and more efficient development of new applications and software features for software-defined cars.

BMW, an automotive industry leader, contributed to the development of the vECU Creator SDK, demonstrating the tool's potential and industry support. Meanwhile, GEM Go, a free, web-based, and mobile-friendly mapping app, helps low-speed car drivers by identifying nearby roads with posted speed limits of 35 mph or lower, legal for operation in most communities around the country.

The vECU Creator, part of the Continental Automotive Edge framework running on Amazon Web Services, is poised to accelerate software-defined car development. GEM Go, with its user-friendly interface and practical functionality, is set to improve the low-speed car driving experience.
