The announcement was made by Turkey's Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, via social media. The decision was the result of a thorough inspection by Michelin inspectors, who were deeply impressed by Cappadocia's cultural and gastronomic diversity.

Cappadocia's culinary identity is profoundly connected to its land, with chefs consistently using local ingredients. The region is noted for its millennia-old culinary heritage from Central Anatolia. The Turkish Tourism Promotion and Development Agency and the Cappadocia Area Presidency contributed to Cappadocia's inclusion in the Michelin Guide. This recognition is a testament to Turkey's growing global presence in gastronomy tourism.

As of early August 2025, the specific restaurants selected in Cappadocia have not yet been publicly announced. The first official Michelin Guide selection for Cappadocia will be revealed at a ceremony on December 4, 2025, at the Four Seasons Hotel Bosphorus in Istanbul alongside new selections for other Turkish regions such as Istanbul, İzmir, and Muğla.
