Border congestion causes lengthy waits for motorists entering Uzbekistan, sparking discontent among drivers.

On the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan border, a massive traffic jam of several kilometers stretches out, as per reports from our site.

Sources indicate that the main disruptions are occurring at the Kazakh checkpoints near the "Navoi" and "Yallama" posts. Drivers lament the sluggish inspections and the lack of coordination in the traffic flow.

While some drivers claim that they are being asked for money on the Kazakh side, the Kazakh State Revenue Committee denies these allegations.

According to committee reports, the number of vehicles has increased during the holidays, resulting in the average daily capacity at the "Kaplanbek" checkpoint surging from 27,000 individuals and 800 cars to 38,000 individuals and 1,100 cars. In response to the situation, the committee has doubled the staff at the checkpoint to accelerate the process.

The Customs Committee of Uzbekistan confirms that there are no deliberate obstructions on their side, with the delays primarily attributed to repair work and the increased traffic due to the Kurban Ait holiday.

The current border traffic jam at the Kazakhstan-Uzbekistan border, particularly at the Navoi post, has been easing up after a meeting between customs and border officials from both countries. The congestion was initially worsened by the upcoming Kurban Hayit (Eid Al-Adha) holiday and reconstruction at several customs posts. Fortunately, the deployment of additional border and customs officers has addressed the issue.

The sources explain that the influx of citizens and private vehicles, coupled with reconstruction work at certain customs posts, was the primary cause of the congestion. Some reports suggest corrupt officials on the Kazakh side have been asking for bribes from drivers, although evidence of the scale and involvement of officials remains uncertain.

Despite improvements in the situation, traveling across the border remains challenging for some. To keep up with the latest developments, make sure to follow us on Instagram and TikTok.
