Step aboard the Andean Explorer, A Belmond Train, and embark on an unforgettable journey through the Peruvian Andes, as captured by renowned photographer Colin Dodgson. This year at Photo London (15-18 May), his mesmerizing work will be showcased as part of Belmond’s "As Seen By" photography series.
Joining a renowned group of over 15 artists, including Chris Rhodes, Coco Capitán, and Francois Halard, Dodgson’s photographs will highlight this extraordinary four-day excursion from Cusco to Arequipa, with stops at Lake Titicaca, the Colca Canyon, and La Raya market.
Dodgson’s images, beautifully captured on film, emit a warm, muted glow that evokes the heat and dry environment of the Andes. They reveal the unique charm of each destination, effortlessly capturing the welcoming atmosphere of every given location.
Alongside his work, the captivating exhibition "I lost my train of thought" is accompanied by a photographic book based on the Andean Explorer. It's part of Belmond’s limited edition book series "As Seen By," where we saw the works of Coco Capitán, Letizia Le Fur, and Rosie Marks in three books at Photo London last year.
Growing up in Southern California, Dodgson developed a deep connection with surfing, a sport that requires patience and the ability to adapt to ever-changing currents, tides, and winds. These lessons he carried over to his photography, always eager to learn, expand his visual language, and avoid redundancy.
Dodgson draws inspiration from various sources, such as the compositions of paintings from the Dutch Golden Age, vast landscapes, and even everyday objects. From potatoes grown at 4200 meters above sea level to market stall setups, his imagery vividly reflects his eclectic influences.
