Air France Offers Free High-Speed In-Flight Wi-Fi, Powered by Starlink
Air France has made headlines by becoming the first major European airline to offer free, high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi. The service, powered by Starlink's low-Earth-orbit satellite network, is now operational and will gradually roll out across the entire fleet.
The new service, accessible via Flying Blue accounts or by creating one on board, allows passengers to stay connected at 30,000 feet. They can enjoy real-time news, stream their favorite content, or engage in multiplayer gaming. Air France has partnered with Starlink, a subsidiary of SpaceX, to provide this cutting-edge connectivity.
By the end of 2024, 30% of Air France's fleet will be equipped with high-speed Wi-Fi, with the entire fleet expected to be covered by the end of 2026. The rollout begins this week with an Airbus A350 on the long-haul network. During the transition, passengers can still enjoy free messaging and paid internet options on non-equipped aircraft.
This significant move by Air France not only enhances the passenger experience but also marks a step upmarket for the airline, including its regional aircraft. The free, high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi service is set to become a standard feature across the entire Air France fleet in the coming years.
